This community has been set up for people from Mangalore or those who had a chance to live here or pass through here. I noticed that there was no community set up for Mangalore and hence set it up. You are free to post your thoughts here.

Mangalore is a city on the west coast of India in the state of Karnataka. It has a all weather harbour, one airport ie perched on a hill top, a railway station and three National Highways connecting it to the rest of the country.

From March to May we have very hot and humid weather, but not very hot like in North India, which means we have peak temperatures of 37-38C. From June to August we have the monsoons, when it rains almost 24/7, and I love it. The roads get shattered and potholed soon after the first week of rains. September to November are hot but not as hot as in March-May, and also we do get some showers from time to time in this period. December to February it gets relatively cool, day time temperatures don't cross 30C (yeah! that is cool) and night time temperatures drop to 19C.

Mangalore is a very hilly place, and used to be referred to as a city of 7 hills. But there are more than 7 hills. So much so that even with all that 24/7 rains nothing remains water logged for long, all the water runs off into the two rivers (Nethravathi, Gurpur) and the sea.

The City,
Not much of industry here, but you still have MCF (Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers Ltd), MRPL (Mangalore Refineries) KIOCL (Kudremukh Iron Ore) and one unit of BASF (BASF AG):-). Infosys has a large centre at Urva, which is atleast 4 years old I think.

So mostly it is a city with lot of commerce, lots of educational institutions, lots of temples and finally lots of greenery.

That's about it, if you have anything to add to this bio do post it and I will add it.
